CONGREGATIONAL HYMN
VICTORY AHEAD
MOP 25
When the host of Israel, led by God,
Round the walls of Jericho softly trod;
Trusting in the Lord,
They felt the conqueror’s tread,
By faith they saw the victory ahead.
Victory ahead! Victory ahead!
Through the blood of Jesus, victory ahead;
Trusting in the Lord,
I hear the conqueror’s trad,
By faith he saw the victory ahead.
David with a shepherd’s sling and five stones,
Met the giant on the field all alone;
Trusting in the Lord, he knew what God had said,
By faith he saw the victory ahead.
Daniel prayed unto the Lord thrice each day,
Then unto the lion’s den led the way;
Trusting in the Lord, he did not fear or dread,
By faith he saw the victory ahead.
Often with the carnal mind I was tried,
Asking for deliverance oft I cried;
Trusting in the Lord, I reckoned I was dead,
By faith I saw the victory ahead.
When like those who’ve gone before to that land,
By death’s river cold and dark I shall stand;
Trusting in the Lord I will not fear or dread,
By faith I see the victory ahead.
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN
WE’LL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER
MOP 91
We are often tossed and driven on the restless sea of time;
Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine,
In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away,
We will understand it better by and by.
By and by when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home,
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome;
For we’ll understand it better by and by.
We are often destitute of the things that life demands,
want of food and want of shelter - thirsty hills and barren lands,
We are trusting in the Lord, and according to His Word,
We will understand it better by and by.
Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand,
All the ways that God would lead us to that blessed Promised Land;
But He guides us with His eyes and we’ll follow till we die,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.

THE CROSS, OUR GAINS {Part 2}
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for inequities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed”
Isa. 53:5
It has been made very clear that The Cross upon which our Saviour was crucified carries messages of transverse, intersection, and or contradiction: life contradicting death, love contradicting hate, peace contradicting violence, forgiveness contradicting accusation, purity contradicting sin, wholeness contradicting broken life, restoration contradicting destruction, and victory contradicting defeat.
In the past The Cross was the cruelest form of execution, but today is a symbol of abundant life. All seemed to be lost on the cross, yet, everything is gained! THE CROSS IS OUR GAIN.
Somebody may ask why and how? And last Sunday we agreed it was because on The Cross, Christ took our place. Secondly, that also on The Cross Christ reconciled us with God. And thirdly, that on The Cross Christ paid our debt.
This morning we shall see more reasons The Cross becomes a gain to us.
WE WERE REDEEMED ON THE CROSS
Once a Ransom is paid a captive is SET FREE or REDEEMED. That exactly happened to me for whom Jesus gave His life. We were redeemed from the curse of the law by Jesus, He became a curse for us. (Gal. 3:13).
By nature we were under the curse of God’s holy law, which pronounces us guilty before God’s sight. But Jesus was under no such curse, yet, to satisfy the demands of divine justice He bore the curse of the law in full.
The ransom price Christ paid brought redemption. to helpless sinners which we are. He set us prisoners of sin free to live in a way that is pleasing to God.
WE WERE FORGIVEN COURTESY THE CROSS
Sin is a debt we owe to God as sinners. So, we for whom Christ died received not only redemption through His
His blood, but also the FORGIVENESS of our sins. (Eph. 1:7).
As a Christian believer, I was cut loose from the double burden of GUILT and DEBT, and I am freely and fully forgiven - for ever! Consider what happened to that woman caught in adultery in (john 8:3-11 ), it is same thing that happened to you! We are forgiven by The Cross!
FROM THE CROSS CAME OUR JUSTIFICATION
Justification is a legal term describing that which happens when a judge decides that the prisoner before him is not liable to any penalty demanded by the law and is treated as though he had never broken it.
God’s eyes are “too pure to behold evil” and He “cannot tolerate wrong” (Heb. 1:13). But then, how can we possibly be declared “NOT GUILTY” in His sight and treated as though we had never sinned? Jesus provided the answer (Heb. 7:26).
Christ’s death paid in full the penalty that God’s law demands. He was punished as if He had never been holy, so that we in whose place He died could be treated as though we had never been unholy. We were declared righteous based on the life and death of Christ, God’s Son, who acted on our behalf. See Paul’s claims in (Rom. 5:1). The justified sinner therefore received eternal life immediately, (see Luke 23:43, the account of the criminal crucified with Jesus on the Cross.
THE CROSS GUARANTEED OUR HEALING
The healing Christ’s death on The Cross brought us is not only spiritual, it is also physical. Sin brought all sicknesses there is in the World, but the blood of Jesus that was shed on the Cross brought far more healing possibilities than ailments and other challenges:
The lame man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:1-9). Dorcas raised from the dead (Acts 9:36- 41). The woman with the issue of blood (Matt. 9:18-22).
Friends, there are unquantifiable gains which the death of Christ on the Cross afford us. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. Why remaining a slave when you’ve been freed? Why remaining a captive when you’ve been emancipated? His death is our gain!
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN
VICTORY MOP 9
Hallelujah, what a thought!
Jesus full salvation brought,
Victory, victory.
Let the powers of sin assail,
Heaven’s grace can never fail,
Victory, victory.
Victory, yes victory;
Hallelujah! I am free,
Jesus gives me victory,
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
He is all in all to me.
I am trusting in the Lord,
I am standing on His Word,
Victory, victory.
I have peace and joy within,
Since my life is free from sin, victory, victory.
Shout your freedom everywhere,
His eternal peace declare,
Victory, victory.
Let us sing it here below,
In the face of every foe,
Victory, victory.
We sing it on that shore,
When this fleeting life is o’er,
Victory, victory.
Sing it here, ye ransomed throng,
Start the everlasting song:
Victory, victory.

OMNIPOTENT GOD
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, Is anything too hard for me? Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure. (Jer. 32:27; Psalm. 147:5)
There is a situation a child of God would find him/herself; problems and battles he/she would encounter, so hard, tough, trying, and turbulent that he/she begins to doubt who God says He is, and questions the reality of His powerfulness.
Sarah went into such situation. (Gen. 16:1-4; 18:11-13). And perhaps you are in such situation this morning; doubting the powerfulness of God because of your challenges.
God has directed me to tell us that He is yet Who He said He is. He is THE OMNIPOTENT GOD. He told Sarah that there is absolutely nothing that He cannot do (Gen. 18:13). Job declared about God, “I know that thou canst do everything... (Job 42:2). Prophet Jeremiah similarly acknowledged that there is nothing too hard for God to do. (Jer. 32:!17). Jesus responding to the query of His audience said, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26). Angel Gabriel told Mary, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37). In his revelation John wrote, “ ...Alleluia: for the Lord God Omnipotent reighneth.” (Rev.
Our God is OMNIPOTENT! It is a combination of two words: “omni’, meaning all, everywhere, totally; and “potent”, meaning physically powerful. Our God is POWERFUL! He is so powerful anywhere, anytime, to and for anybody. He is ALMIGHTY; mightier than all.
Let us see this morning the show of God’s power in Egypt.
THE BATTLE LINE DRAWN
God introduced to Pharaoh, and His intentions made clear to him by Moses. (Ex. 5:1).
Pharaoh’s opposing and rivalry response. (Ex. 5:2).
Moses and Aaron’s subsequent plea to Pharaoh. (Ex. 5:3).
Pharaoh’s wicked directives. (Ex. 5:4-21).
God’s battle-ready words to Moses. (Ex. 6:1; 7:1-3).
I am sorry for any Pharaoh in your life, in your family and in your job, who foolishly goes drawing a battle line with God and contesting with Him for a show of power. That pharaoh is in danger!

WHO CAN BATTLE WITH THE LORD?
The Show of Snakes; power versus power (Ex. 7:8-11).
The hardening of Pharaoh’s heart; ‘a stubborn fly’ (Ex. 7:13)
The plaguing of the land of Egypt
Waters turned blood (v.19-25). Grievous frogs (Ex. 8:1-8). Lice in the land (Ex. 8:16-19). Swarms of flies (Ex. 8:20-25). Grievous murrain (Ex. 9:3-6). Dangerous boils (Ex. 9:8-11).Very grievous hail, thunder, and fire (Ex. 9:18-26).Very grievous locusts (Ex. 10:14-18). A three day darkness in all the land (Ex. 10:21-26).The death of first born children (Ex. 12). Our God is a man of war! No battle swallows Him. He is full of victorious battle strategies. No man can teach Him warfare!
